# New Technology for Virtual Parent-Time in Utah | Brown Family Law

Sorry, I haven’t blogged for a while. My wife and I went to Paris for our anniversary, and when you get out of the habit of something, it’s hard to get back in to the groove.

In any case, I found a new piece of technology I think can really help parents who have to Skype with their kids for parent-time. (The term we use in Utah legal circles for this is “virtual parent-time.” Laywers, always making stuff sound more complicated than it is.)

It’s called [zoom](https://www.zoom.com/). It’s sort of like Skype, but with higher quality audio and visual. It’s also free, which is great. And, the part I like best of all: you can record your zoom sessions. That’s right, you can **record** your virtual parent-time so you can enjoy the memories later. And if there’s ever a problem during virtual parent-time (e.g., your ex tells you to end the conversation after five minutes, when it should be thirty), you have a recording you can send to your attorney and use in court.
