# How Does Labor Day Holiday Parenting Time Work in Utah? | Brown Family Law

It’s Labor Day. Kids have gone back to school and summer is winding down. It’s time for hikes and barbeques to send summer off with a smile.

So, how does Labor Day parent-time work?

Well, Labor Day is included in the [Utah parent-time schedule](https://www.brownfamilylaw.com/blog/utah-holiday-parenting-time/). Specifically, it goes like this:

In years ending in an odd number, the noncustodial parent is entitled to the following holidays:

. . .

Labor Day beginning 6 p.m. on Friday until Monday at 7 p.m., unless the holiday extends for a lengthier period of time to which the noncustodial parent is completely entitled.

When it says “unless the holiday extends for a lengthier period of time,” it’s really referring to your child’s school schedule. So, if the school takes Monday and Tuesday off for Labor Day, then whoever is entitled to the holiday would get until Tuesday at 7 p.m.
