Ray attended Washington and Lee University School of Law, where prosecution and family law became the focus of his interest. He graduated with the Order of the Coif, granted to the top five class members, and was given the award for family law and evidence, among other honors. Ray started his career in accounting at a large CPA firm in Pasadena, California. He then took a variety of accounting positions in different areas of the country, eventually discovering he had a unique ability to turn around struggling companies, which success allowed him to eventually quit working and return to school where he obtained a Masters in Accounting and then taught accounting at the University level. Ray and his lovely (and patient) wife Rita are approaching their fortieth wedding anniversary, and are the parents of six children and grandparents of thirteen grandchildren.
