With divorce mediation, a mediator acts as a neutral party with the goal of pushing the process forward one step at a time. This person is not there to make decisions or force one party into doing something. Instead, they mediate all meetings in an attempt to help both sides reach an agreement.

During each subsequent meeting, discussions are based on how to compromise so that both parties are happy with the end result. The goal of all parties involved is to reach an agreement. Once this happens, the mediator is staffed with the responsibility of creating the agreement for review by both parties.
