How to Find and Use the Utah Sex Offender Registry in your Divorce or Child Custody Case

There are any number of reasons why you might want to look at the Utah sex offender registry.

Most of those reasons probably have to do with curiosity about whether a sex offender lives near your home. Sometimes, however, you may use it for a little child custody and divorce research.

What I mean is you can use the sex offender registry to see if you ex’s significant other has done naughty things in his or her past.

Honestly, when you look at the registry, you almost never find your ex’s beau or live-in “housemate” (you can’t imagine how many times I’ve heard live-in lovers called housemates so people don’t lose alimony), but sometimes lightning strikes.

We have won child custody cases because people get intimately involved with violent sex offenders. The takeaway of all this is: it can’t hurt to look.

So, how do you find the Utah sex offender registry?

It’s as easy as clicking here.

Keep a few things in mind as you search:

  1. You have to abide by the terms and conditions before searching for a particular person or geographic area.

This includes a prohibition on harassing or threatening offenders.

  1. The more information you have about the person you are searching the better.

A full name is very helpful, including aliases, otherwise you will get a lot of responses that aren’t actually the person you’re searching for.

  1. The information may not be 100% accurate.

Like any database, there are mistakes. You will need to follow up if you do find someone on the list to ensure he or she is, in fact, a sex offender.

Happy researching.
