How Does Thanksgiving Work?
As a Utah divorce attorney, I’ve noticed there are holidays, and then there are holidays. Parents don’t much care about Martin Luther King Day, Columbus Day, Pioneer Day, and the like. They do, however, care about holidays like Christmas, Spring Break, and Thanksgiving.
I’ve talked about other holidays before (e.g., Christmas, Martin Luther King Day, and holidays in general), and I want to talk about Thanksgiving specifically.
Thanksgiving, along with Christmas, are the major parent-time holidays.
If there are fights to be had over scheduling, they will happen 95% of the time in conjunction with these two holidays. This is why is so important to know when the Thanksgiving holiday begins and ends.
Thankfully, this one’s super simple.
Thanksgiving begins Wednesday (the day before Thanksgiving) at 7 p.m. and ends Sunday at 7 p.m.
That’s it. Enjoy your holiday.
(Note: I’m getting my information from Utah Code, Section 30-3-35(2)(g)(vii).)
