With Divorce Mediation, Utah Divorce doesn’t have to be Messy

There may still be people in Utah who buy into the Hollywood version of divorce where things get messy and the parties are always fighting. In reality, it doesn’t have to be that way. Divorce mediation provides couples with an alternative to the adversarial process.

Using a mediator can give Utah couples the freedom to decide how they want their divorce to go. So long as a divorce settlement isn’t contrary to law or public policy, the parties can structure their settlement any way they wish — unless they give the power to decide to a judge. When people give up control of their lives to a perfect stranger, things rarely work out well. That isn’t to say that there isn’t a time and place for divorce court, but it may not be the best first option.

A lot of couples these days are ending their marriages on better terms than in the past. Often, couples with children are determined to remain civil to each other, if not actually friendly, for the sake of their kids. For couples that are willing to work out their issues on their own, divorce mediation could be the answer.

Divorce mediation pushes couples to compromise and make decisions based on arguments that don’t come from a place of hurt, anger or resentment. Couples are encouraged to hash out their problems with the help of a third party who can keep the parties on track. When the process is complete, it is hoped that the parents have built a new foundation on which to base their post-divorce relationship in order to give their children, and themselves, the best chance for continued well-being moving forward.

I appreciated her weekly check-ins, for the aid she provided, and the questions answered.
Clay Randle provided exceptional support and counsel. He was patient, knowledgeable, and thoughtfully addressed my many questions and concerns. Thank you very much!

Nathaniel and Brown family law are professional, very knowledgeable, and know how to navigate within the broken and biased Utah family law court system. They were highly communicative throughout the process. They can potentially save you a lot of time and money if lawfare is being waged against you.
